FireBird Popular 120 Boiler Question

    Hi Folks,

I am appealing to all you plumbers out there for advice. I have a Firebird popular 120 boiler installed out in my shed. In the last few weeks it will not fire up automatically when turned on using the on/off / timer switch in the house. However when I go to the shed and unscrew the little cap on the top of the boiler and press the button manually it fires up and appears to stay on, however problem persists again the next time I want to fire it up.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated. It does appear to only have started since I moved my oil tank but Im not sure how this would cause this issue so that could be purely coincidental.

    Thanks

    Sirus

Circulation pump giving trouble. Air trapped in top of boiler. Edit: Or boiler stat acting up.

Turn boiler thermostat down about 5⁰ to see if it helps. Otherwise, as above.

    Hi Wearb,

Thanks a million for the advise. I did what you suggested with the thermostat and turned it back a bit, Since I did that is firing up first time now when I turn it on in the house... What does that mean for this long term? is there something on the blink or what is causing it not too work when the thermostat is turned up a bit more?

    Thanks again

    Sirus

Often a weakened pump, sludge in the system or just the calibration of the thermostat shifting a bit.

Have it properly serviced. It will prolong the life of the boiler and might show up any problems.
