Hi, our insurance is up for renewal and as it has done previous years it's increased again. We are with laya flex500 explore. We are just 40 now, no health issues at the moment. Is there an alternative from vhi or irish that someone can recommend, it's so frustrating trying to compare. Some of bit just doesn't make sense.

The alternative isn't between insurance providers, the real alternative is between their corporate plans and the ones they offer to consumers. The HIA have a good comparison tool on their website where you can select plans for comparison, and I would recommend the free policy search tool available on https://www.totalhealthcover.ie/policy_search - this is from a broker experienced in the health insurance field and pretty much whatever plan that is returned in the results from that tool is the best value plan in that bracket.
