How to claim tax relief on a lump sum pension payment?

I am hoping somebody can answer this question, thanks so much in advance.

I'm a secondary teacher and last year made a lump sum payment into the Secondary Teachers' Superannuation Scheme. There was no tax relief given at source. How do I go about claiming the relief? I am familiar with Revenue.ie and can generally handle my affairs through my account there but I see nothing about how to apply for lump sum relief.

    Thanks again.

Is there no place for it in the normal Form 12 tax return?

There should be a place on the Form 12.

If you log into your Revenue myaccount and go through the review tax for 2020 you can file the online equivalent.

There should be an option to Request and/or View Prelim Statement of Liability, and underneath that an option to Complete an Income Tax Return. You will have to tick through and confirm or add details of all income and credits across a couple of screens. I think there should be an option in one of the later screens for untaxed pension contributions, unless something has changed since I last did it myself 😃

Thanks so much for the replies. I will try what ar101 suggests, hopefully it will work.

    Thanks again.
