Bathroom lights

Our bathroom isnt that big and I hate globe lights and find spots too harsh so I'm onsiderong just getting 2 good wall lights over a long mirror. I don't mine the bathroom being softly lit once the mirror has a decent bit of light. Has none ever done this and just foregone foregone ceiling light?

Why don't you consider a mirror with integrated LED lighting?

Fair suggestion. I just don't happen to like them very much. Our bathroom is soft oaks and whites and the led look just doesn't suit it.

I think it would be too dark for some situations and you would need a ceiling light for proper brightness.

Could you have both and just use the wall lights most of the time?

You can get super bright lowish profile ceiling lights on Amazon for about £30 so it's not too dear to have as a back up and they are nicer than the globe ones.

I have both on two different switches and its not enough light out of the two sconces either side of the mirror.

Much like you i hated the globe lights in bathroom that are put in to be up to code but afterwards i fitted my own light that i actually did like in the ceiling.

You need a good bright light in the bathroom for when you are cleaning. If you put it on a separate switch you don't need to use it all the time.

Personally I like a brightly lit bathroom. I use recessed 12v QH lights. You might find deeply recessed LED or QH ceiling fixtures might work for you as you just get light, without seeing a bright light source on the ceiling unless directly underneath and you look up.
