I have alot of painting to get through at the minute and would welcome advice from anyone experienced.

    1. Is there a 'best' way to paint a white steel radiator? Any special paint?

    2. Does a kitchen need 'kitchen' paint? Will it be easier to wipe and clean?

    3. Has anyone printed furniture? I painted a basic ikea step..primed it and painted it. But I feel it needs a seal or varnish of some sort. Does it?

    4. Skirting and architrave- do I use a satin paint? Any particular recommendations?

    Thanks a million.

    1. you can use radiator paint. You can get it in a spray can but this can be expensive only really good if doing a small radiator, just put some cardboard behind it to protect walls and mask up valves. Try to get low odour and non yellowing. Prep is key and a good brush, purdy etc.
    2. it depends on size of kitchen and build up of moisture, kitchen paint can help with this plus grease. But Nothing like sugar soap to wash down walls of a kitchen in prep for repainting.
    3. A step? Is it being constantly being stepped on? You don’t want it too slippy now. You say you primed it? With what? The finish coat with what?
    4. This is entirely up to your taste. Satin is just that, a satin finish not a gloss finish. Is skirting & Architrave raw?

Prep is key for all of the above, sand down in between coats and try not to cover area in one go.

We used Colourtrend's Ceramic paint in the kitchen and would highly recommend. It's more expensive, but any stain will come off and you can get pretty aggressive with the scrubbing without damaging the paint.

Firstly, thank you for taking the time to reply. For the step, it is one of those ikea wooden steps that every house has. Used all the time. I painted in a colourtrend interior paint (had a tester so decided to use it up). I primed it with a wood/mdf primer (think it was rustins).

Thanks for that. You're right colourtrend is so expensive. Thinking about trying to use the kitchen paint in the kitchen area where food splashes are likely and trying to use a regular dulux interior white paint everywhere else (our kitchen is huge). Need to see if there is anywhere where we could discreetly marry them together.
