Gomo 5G?

Does anyone else pick up 5G on Gomo.

Not long with them and have picked up 5G. Thought it was only 4g

Device is an iPhone 12, I guess. Are you on €9.99, €12.99 or €14.99? Is Voice over WiFi working as well? There have been reports of 5G since late 2020 but on Android devices and only in certain regions in the country.

Iphone 12 pro. On 14.99 plans and wifi calling works great.

Yea Gomo said awhile back they where introducing 5G and Wifi calling to new customers (What you are) and for myself on the old 9.99 package will get it in the future, Still hasn't happened for me yet and can't get wifi calling turned on iphone x.

Where does it mention that Gomo will offer 5g? Cannot see anywhere online where this is mentioned, it would make no sense as its reserved for top tier Eir plans.

Wi-Fi Calling is working perfrct. I am starting to think it was a blip, as it hasn't picked up 5g since in that area.

I am on the original €9.99 plan and have picked up 5G a handful of times in the last couple of months. I have a Samsung Galaxy S20 FE.

any chance of Voice over LTE (VoLTE)?

edit - I see that they have this in for new customers but not old ones (pre April 2021 yet)

I pick up 5G the odd time on my Galaxy S20. The signal only lasts for a few minutes.

I bought a 12 Pro Max last week and am a day one €9.99 GoMo subscriber. 5G is turned on in the settings but when out and about I am yet to see the indicator show 5G? WiFi calling will not turn on in the settings?

I was able to get 5G in many places when I had the same SIM in my Galaxy S21 Ultra?

Why are we as long term and loyal customers getting shafted here? Is there an official way to lodge a complaint with GoMo and ComReg about this?

Without VoLTE, your phone will be kicked back to 3G (or 2G) when you make or receive a call.

LTE (4G) networks are very different to what came before. There’s no support for circuit-switched calls like there was in previous standards. It’s just a data pipe. So VoLTE treats the call as if it were data and sends it over the 4G network. I’ve no experience with 5G (still on an iPhone 8 Plus here) but I’d bet that it’s the same. If your phone or provider doesn’t support VoLTE then it has to bump you back to 2G or 3G to make or receive a call, otherwise it wouldn’t work at all.

What is meant by "Porting"? and APN? Gomo makes it very difficult to join them. I am not bothered

anymore.You are only saving a miserable 5 euro.

Porting means moving your number from your current network to your new network. This is Standard across all mobile networks.

APN is the Access Point Name, which is essentially a address on how your phone connects to a mobile network. In Gomos case it’s data.myeirmobile.ie. This can be managed in your mobile data settings on your phone.

I’d say it’s a breakthrough glitch. A bit like what i have seen with Vodafone wifi calling. Sometimes in the UK it works despite being geo locked.

It's as easy at it gets. Set a time to port your number to GoMO, insert GoMo sim card into an unlocked phone. And magic! It just works.

Every network is the same as such and porting required. And in relation to APN, most phones will receive the updated APN form GoMo once you've switched over, so not an issue.

With GoMO since day 1, and majority of family and friends with them now also. And they're all saving their miserable €5 and more even.

Got this SMS a few days ago on the GoMo SIM I have in my iPhone. Never ever got it before and have been with GoMo right from the start. Has anyone else ever got this? Must check my September bill at the start of October but never go anywhere near the monthly limit normally! Now the other GoMo SIM that is in my TP-Link 4G router is a different story!!
