Travel Insurer (Chill.ie) took money from bank but not insured?

Hi, I was taking out travel insurance with chill.ie, went to the payment page and it it either timed out or something.

I got an e-mail from chill (about 2mins later) with my quote number and details of insurance but I dont seem to be covered, yet they have gone into my bank account for the money as I checked it.

So, now I am not insured and they have taken the money from my bank, I am going away this evening, will there be an issue refunding me? Is it normal for them to go for the payment without sending a confirmation e-mail?

    :(

Check your spam folder. It may take a few hours to process, I'd contact them Monday if you are not travelling over the weekend and need it urgently.

Thanks AD, I am going this evening, not urgent per say, I have checked SPAM, nothing.

I will try get onto them Monday and I will call my bank tomorrow, possible the bank may reverse the payment.

Fingers crossed they will send me the Insurance e-mail so I can have peace of mind.

    Cheers

if you have the bank reverse the payment then you won't be covered

If payment has been taken, live it alone, payment taken will be proof of insurance, contact chill by email, explain what's happened, its up to them to resolve this. If you reverse payment with bank your absolutely not insured.

Sounds odd, whats in the email. Is it worth purchasing again if you need it and then looking for a refund.

The e-mail has my quote number, and information on travel etc..

My understanding is, I am not insured, merely sent me a quote, it does have a link ''To purchase this insurance now, click here'' but i ma hesitant to do that in case i am double charged.

The chill.ie payment is in the ''pending section of my bank''

Maybe it takes time for them to send me the actual insurance certificate, going by the e-mail it is only a quote...

ah so it hasn't been charged. A pending transaction is posted to ensure you have sufficient funds to cover a purchase. Depending on your bank, that charge will fall off after a few days and actual payment has been debited. Can you contact them via a social media platform ?

Generally, with insurance that I purchased in the past, it is confirmed by email, and this would some specific attachments. Such as Business Terms, The policy documents and other info.

As you suspected it is possible that it was not purchased. With pending transactions, I would have purchased stuff in shops, online etc and it shows pending sometimes for a couple of days.

But with the pending, it looks like they tried to take full payment. Sometimes if companies are checking the card is valid, they try smaller amounts.

I would think that without the policy document, you would have no evidence of insurance and would not be insured.

This got sorted. Chill apologised and said it was a clerical error.
