One Off Job with N Ireland Company

I work full time for a state body in the South. I have been asked to provide a one off service for a company based in the North. They have offered me €500 for the day. Not great money taking account of travel, fuel, doing the work and providing a report but I don't mind helping them out providing it does not cause me any hassle with regards to tax etc.

Can this company pay me? Do I have to inform revenue myself? Is it going to be way more hassle than its worth or am I over thinking it?

Of course the company can pay you. You self declare your nett taxable income to Revenue just like anyone else with any non PAYE taxable income. Whether it's worthwhile is totally up to yourself.
