How to clean a gas hot that wont ignite?

Couple of months ago there was an oil spill on our hobs, and one of them got flooded. I tried to clean it as quickly as possible, but is was too much and I think it got through the nozzle into the the gas pipe. Now this hob does not ignite. I keep pressing the ignite button, there is spark, and maybe a very weak flame, that after few seconds goes off.

I removed the nozzle, cleaned it, there is a clean hole in it, so this isn't blocking the gas. It must be inside the system, below the nozzle.

Is there a way to clean this? Is there any chemical I can use to clean it? Should I call some technician to fix it or replace it?

Check that the outlet holes in the flame spreader are not blocked.

No, the jet itself might be blocked, go at it with a cocktail stick.

Ok, what I was referring to as "nozzle" is the gas jet. It is clean. But I think there must be oil under that, which I have no way of cleaning.

You could (VERY carefully) try to light the gas without the flame spreader in place. At least it would narrow down the cause.

The holes in the flame spreader often get blocked and carbonised when a pot overflows. I know you said they appear clean, but worth another look. I reamed the holes on mine with either a very small screwdriver or a nail held in a pliers. Lots of them were fully or partially blocked. Made a huge difference - clean blue flame rather than yellow and variable.

Just thought of a better idea! Swap the flame spreader assembly from one of the working burners and see if that makes a difference.

I have it swapped many times, as I am putting them in the dishwasher for cleaning. Therefore, when I put them back, don't know which is which. There are 2 of the same size.
