How does it work with temp contract

I’ve been unemployed since November 2020. I recently started a temp contract for 4 months. However I am paying tax as if I’ve been working the whole year. Can I request my tax back now or do I need to wait until end of the year and how do I go about doing it? Maybe I’m not entitled to it? Thanks a mill

Is your new employment registered with your Revenue MyAccount? If it isn't, you might be on emergency tax rates which are pretty punishing.

You will eventually get any over-payment of tax back but if registered correctly you should be able to get it back quicker, assuming that the 'cumulative basis' is applied to your employment.
