how do you look up the people who Thank You. I have 3 thumbs up but can’t see who they are

This is 10 steps backwards. It's not possible to even use it. I'm on desktop, and it only fills half the screen?

    wtf

    No

''Read First Unread'' or last page,

S0 you just click to the highest number page possible and work it out yourself where you last read from.

    What is this, 1983,

The new site is awful. I'll be switching over to reddit full time from now on if this is how it remains.

When launching any revised product set, whether a physical product, a service or in this case, a platform, it is essential to ensure you protect your existing customer base. This usually involves a brief explanation of the reasoning behind the new product set, the benefits available from it, and how to avail of them. Along with (preceding) product testing, user testing and market segment testing and reaction. And if it is a technical product, a user guide and maybe even tutorials.

If the effort required from the customers/users to understand/avail of the benefits of the new offering is too much, you risk losing your existing base.

I am not being deliberately negative, just asking as a customer/user who only uses and looks at the photography forums. And haven't seen any of this.

For now, I will stop using the site and wait to see what is the outcome. I am a lazy user. If it don't work or meet my needs, I'll give it a little time. In the absence of communication and improvement, I'll be sad, but just go elsewhere.

P.S. they do have our email addresses - they could let us know, as their customers, what's going on. And remember, that the vast majority of people are fickle, lazy users who want to be spoon fed (me included). There are too many alternatives. Which, in a way, is sad. I have always wanted to "buy Irish". But not at the expense of an inferior product/service.

I'm a boards member since 2005 and love the site. This new update is not user friendly at all. Even the time and date stamp of each thread is gone. I really hope they fix this and make it more familiar

I'm still looking for the huge advantage it was to move to this new platform.

Whose idea was it and why?

Who thought it would be a good idea to make it impossible to follow forums only threads, while have terrible navigation to find the forums you frequent.

Look's good to me. I like the new layout. No problem with it here and the comments section upgrade kick's ass. 9/10

Individual people have different thoughts and understanding in regard to others opinions, but the problem is this... there are some people out there that will do everything in their power to cut you off when they do not like your opinion even when it is truth.

The site is actually now much slower too than the vBulletin version, I thought the migration was supposed to correct all the load issues?

    Jesus it's shite

This odd most basic functionality a form should have and I can’t believe it doesn’t work in 2021. Vanilla must be some chancers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,789 ✭✭✭Mrcaramelchoc

Yea i agree its horrendous. Why change something that isn't broken. Ffs the new mobile version is awful.

I'm guessing it was primarily technical. Limitations being faced around the numbers of posts on site etc. Plus there was a lot of customization which likely getting harder to handle.

Wheres my forums, the search also appears to be more rubbish

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,706 ✭✭✭Azatadine

Not sure how I follow a thread without commenting so....

I don’t think posting in a thread automatically subscribes you to it any more, or didn’t initially anyway. There’s a star icon up to the right of the title that does it though (fills in yellow).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,613 ✭✭✭ShagNastii

Yeah I’m a mobile user and might throw in the towel. Navigating the site is now cumbersome and slow.

Sorry to disappoint you, but commenting doesn't automatically ensure you follow a thread.

But it does mean you'll get notifications about the other comments on the thread for the rest of all eternity, with no apparent way to unsubscribe.

I hated the old touch site and only used it when I had no access to my laptop. Tried it last night and ... WTF??? It's almost like it's a different forum to the desktop one. All kinds of profile/control panel features that only exist on one or the other but not both.

    Me no likey

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,706 ✭✭✭Azatadine

Yep, you're right....posting doesn't automatically subscribe me....I needed to hit the star.....

Surely it doesn't make sense that posting doesn't automatically subscribe you?

It definitely doesn’t make sense but I’d be hopeful they’ll fix it if possible.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,819 ✭✭✭archfi

Just testing on the DS Forum (Vanilla), it doesn't appear commenting on a thread subs you to that thread

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 7,187 ✭✭✭Badly Drunk Boy

Did that ever happen? I think I've only 'followed' 2 threads here ever (by clicking the 'Follow' button) but I was never 'subscribed' to a thread just by posting on it. (Is that because I usually use desktop?) I know you can now 'bookmark' a thread using the button below, or the star on the mobile version.

    Bookmark.PNG

What I find annoying at the moment is not being able to edit a quote you are quoting. If it is a big post and you only want to address a small part of it, you can't edit/delete/embolden parts of the quoted message.

There was an option buried in the vbulletin settings to automatically subscribe you to a thread if you posted in it. Should be default behaviour imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,078 ✭✭✭BailMeOut

Way too much white space. Any options to do custom views as it desperately needs a more condensed option?

Another thing I'm not mad about is the thread title appearing in the link in your browser history (mainly for the work computer, though) 😉. Most are fine, but some around here are a bit dodgy. And I clicked on my own user profile a few times yesterday and now my boards username is all over my browsing history.

You'd think I had something to feel guilty about! 😇
