The "My forms" list is seen as a priority. It will be back during the week.

    Thank you! 😄

    "My Forums"

Despite myself, and using the mobile version, I'm beginning to find my way around.

I always used the desktop version on my mobile before, and the screen width meant that to read the text I missed the poster's identity. With this mobile version, at least I get to see that. Small steps.

I see a lot more activity on F&F in the last few days and I'm delighted cause I thought the move to the new site was the death knell of Boards.

I'm slowly navigating and familiarising my way through the new site.

Why is GDPR such an issue now? They switched from using an American software company to a Canadian one, I doubt there is a website anywhere that runs entirely on EU software. The site is still hosted in Ireland by Digiweb.

Software support for many of our critical IT systems in this country, with a lot more personal data than names and email addresses is often outsourced to companies in countries such as India.

If you've had your email for any length of time and use it for various internet accounts chances are it's already by involved in a data breach of some description.

It is not about the software, it is about where the data is stored and who can access it.

Tons of Personally Identifiable Information (PII) in that data. Not just in posts, but especially in PMs in general and PMs to Talk To forums in particular.

GDPR issues on the site at present are not minor.

But the data is still stored in Ireland.

GDPR issues on the site at present may not be minor, but they are no different than they were previously.

Most of our banks receive software support including OS and Database admin from offshore support teams outside of the EU, but people are getting more upset by a community forum receiving software support during the migration by the new software vender, do you think the last vender didn't offer similar level of support? Or is a Canadian company a bigger threat to our data than an American one?

No, the data is now in Canada. Have you not read the GDPR thread?

    I think it's safe to say I have not.😂

They really should loose the "hosted by Digiweb" logo from their home page then.

For no reason today I started getting emails from boards about posts and stuff.

went in and changed settings to no emails, but still getting them. Driving me mad.

  • Moderators, Society & Culture Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 9,047 Mod ✭✭✭✭greysides

It make take time for setting changes to be applied but I've passed it upstairs anyway. Where it fits on the list of priorities is anyone's guess.

There's been a lot of major issue firefighting going on. Enough that normal corrections are being delayed.

Anyone else find reading posts now very difficult? I find the looking at the screen very disorientating. Is it just me?

I've more or less stop visiting Farming Boards now. Don't enjoy it anymore.

I have to agree with you their.... But where do we go from here.

There is another farming forum you can move to, join up with Reggie and whelan on it.

I found bits difficult on this new layout, but have learned to adapt. I'll stay loyal here for the distant future anyway.

Ah I don’t find it that bad to be honest. I have a large screen on my phone so maybe that makes a difference but I am use to the changes now so just getting on with it. Pity it is so quiet though. Although it does seem to be getting a little busier each day.

Ya a bit quieter on F&F forum. While I have no problem reading the posts again a big screen on phone I Fong navigation very slow and awkward. As when when you open a thread you are at the top of the page and have to scroll all the way down through older posts. Same with threads page because of tags on thread headers you are again scrolling to get to see what you want to look at

Another bug seems to be you cannot see who liked posts on mobile you can only like/ thank posts

I've noticed that sometimes you have hit " post comment " twice.

''The Farming Forum'' is way ahead of either Boards or forum4farming, no bullshit or conspiracies.

180 posts today already and all farming

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 11,817 ✭✭✭✭Base price

I wish they would fix the hour difference in time on the "last post". It's feckin annoying at this stage.

I had a look at the forum4farming site and the first post I saw was from a person who's avatar was a photo looking up a woman's tee shirt to see her boobs - if that is the quality of neanderthal's posting there then I think I'll pass.

This is only about the 3rd or fourth time I have logged on since the downgrade, the mobile version is shockingly bad. I have an old iphone and no matter what I do I cannot see where I can switch it to desktop on the mobile. I don't generally look at boards when on the laptop and the only reason I posted this time was some of the posts on one particular topic sickened the asre off me. The lads that I would generally follow in terms of their posts have disappeared and unfortunately with it my gra for the site. I'll still look in every now and again but I think that will be about the size of it. Its a pity because I found it a great source of info for all kinds of things.

Mobile has improved much in fairness. Click the 3 dots (or whatever) in you browser and you should see an option for Desktop. That's the work-around for now.

NB It will apply to all sites until you switch it off again.
