    Hi,

I want to try see if a 28c tyre will fit my bike. But if it does it'll be a close thing and I'd look to buy that same model new because with variation across brands I couldn't assume any 28c would work.

    Thanks.

I think you are in North County Dublin.
If so you can borrow a rim brake wheel with a 28c tyre on it or a 28c tubeless tyre form me in Balrothery.

    Thanks guys.

    I'm in Dublin city.

Koutoubia, your plan sounds good. Can't take tubeless but if I bring out my bike and slot in your wheel I'll know how I'm fixed.

I'll send you a pm to arrange things.

Just a thought but a new 28mm tyre will supposedly have a lot more rubber on it than a used one.

It might be easier if you told us what frame you have and someone may well be running 28mm tyres already

What wheel/rim will you be using? That might also impact on the fit. What the width of the rim?

Am in D5, you can call round and try one of my wheel/ tyres, I have a few 28mm s

    The rim is marked 622x13

I guess the narrower the rim, the higher up/outwards the tyre will reach. Is that how it works?

See photo here for space I currently have. The tyre here is 25c Specialized Armadillo All Condition.

So does that look like room to take 28c? I reckon there's 4-5mm spare all around at the moment.

I'd say you'd have no issues at the brake bridge. wider tyre tend to catch on frames with shaped seat tubes and narrow chain stays.
