So we have a €5 24 hour sale on with Ryanair, and decided to have a look see where we could go for a day trip.

What is on in the Netherlands for Sunday 25th July?

Prices for a return flight are pretty hefty at €600, but what is actually on to drive those prices?

I'd agree with supply and demand but what's on in the Netherlands for Sunday 25th July that drives the demand up to be €268 to Amsterdam and €333 coming back.

It's like a big football match day trip prices but I can't see what's on there

A lot of third level courses finish in the netherlands this week so Irish students returning home. Plus there seems to be only one flight each way per day compared to 4 pre covid.

The amount of school days a year is about the same. The schools here have a shorter summer, but more weeks off during the year

Still senior schools only get 6 weeks whilst Irish schools get 11-12.

I don't think Dutch schools make up that difference throughout the year as Irish schools have Easter, mid terms and Christmas too.

Yeah but there's only the same flights the previous weekends and they aren't anywhere near in prices, there's definitely something driving that particular week end.

Schools? Maybe but the dates don't tally
    Summer vacation 2021 (zomervakantie)
    North: July 10 - August 22, 2021
    Central: July 17 - August 29, 2021
    South: July 24 - September 5, 2021

Univesity of Amsterdam? again maybe but why the Sunday and not the Saturday and why going to Amsterdam and return flights?

There is more than 1 University and 1 Technical University catering to hundreds of Irish students in the Netherlands finishing this week.

Supply and demand is your answer - limited supply and high demand,

I could buy that if the supply/demand was in one direction, but it's in both

180 school days per year here and 187 per year in Ireland. So the Google tells me
