I don't see this on the search?
But surely deserves its own thread.

I saw today in a pretty quiet screening in the lighthouse...i found it absolutely joyous, I loved it from start to finish, bright, colourful, touching and well acted, some very catchy tunes as well.
I don't see it having the commercial appeal of something like the greatest showman, but it's imo a much better made film.

    A great summer musical.

On a side note after social media backlash the makers made an apology for the lack of diversity and not including more black people who live in Washington Heights and are not represented in the film.

After I'd seen this I wasnt overly complimentary at first. However I've had time to let the movie percolate so to speak and now I actually think its a lot better than I'd given it credit for. Still think its about 20 minutes too long but its uplifting, positive, has a great message and most of the characters are genuinely likeable.

It’s not without its pleasures here and there, but by god it never knew when to end. Felt like the final stretch of the movie lasted an entire hour and a half.
