    Hi all

I have had a huge issue with Manganese in my well water since I bore the well in 2012. I knew there was an issue from the start so I put a treatment unit in.
Unfortunately this treatment system which involved potassium permanganate and a salt tank did not work from the start so about 18 months later I installed a new vessel with crystal-rite 100 resin in the blue vessel with the same salt tank- it worked relatively ok for about 4 years until last year so on recommendation of the guy who installed the second system I added a 2nd blue vessel - a filter agg to remove some dirt from the system but also to help with the large levels of manganese which was 81 times higher than recommended EU parametre levels at 4080 ug/l (recommended EU level is 50 ug / l).

Since November there has been constant issues with the water so I replaced the resin in the tank a few weeks ago (expensive stuff!!) and a few other pieces like the spacer stack inside the heads. However last week the pressure of cold water in the house started to drop and its down very low now. This is where my current problem is - today I found what appears to be pieces of crystalite in the filter of my washing machine so after doing some investigation in the treatment tanks outside it appears that crystalite (see picture 1 below) in some form is getting from the tank, into the head (as I can hear it rattling) and down into the post treatment pipe into the house.... I am assuming this is what is causing the pressure problem as these pieces of resin are obviously blocking the pipes in places- that is going to be a huge problem.

So the two big questions are....

Can anyone suggest how crystalrite resin could be getting from the tank up into the head and into the house??? There is quite a lot of it flowing in from what you can see in the picture below....

Any suggestions as to how I can flush these blockages out from the house back out to the garage where the pipes are coming from.

Regards and thanks for ANY help/advice

They look like stones to me.
According to the spec, Crystal Right (Sodium Alumina Silicate (Zeolite)) is "White-light gray crystal", but they may have picked up iron/Mg in the pipes and discoloured, I suppose. Can you crush them?

For flushing, it depends on their density as to whether they will shift easily or not, but did you try connecting the pre-treated water to the post-treated water pipe and open all of the taps (and remove all tap-filters/aerators) and see if they move through?
Otherwise a plumber might have a high-pressure system purge pump which could do it.
