    Hello All,

    Looking for advice, every couple years I import a 2 litre diesel Vw in from the UK myself.

    Last time i brought in a Golf gtd 184bhp and am now looking to upgrade the years and bring in the same sort of car again.
    Along with the VRT is their import duty also now from the uk but no import duty and just VRT if i bring it in from garage/person in northern Ireland?

    Also what diesel engines are low in Nox so the vrt won't be high ?

    Thanks a million,
    Michael.

    Anything post 2016 (well mid 2015 really, but 2016 to be safe) will be low nox.

    You’re forgetting VAT as well.

    The Nox on a GTD actually isn’t that bad even before late 2015.

    2013 = 0.064 = €560

    2018 = 0.054 = €410

    Is it worth importing a car anymore ? Even if i went to the north to save the customs ?

    Surprised they’re that low, Octavia RS TDI on Euro 5 was around €1700 I thought

    That’s for 184ps. Not sure what a GTD has. Assume it’s the same.

    Unless you can find something in the North that qualifies as having no vat/customs, and is a reasonable price, then no it is not worth it.

    I got the Nox figures from a car auction site in the UK. They get the figures straight from the V5. Its BCA but I think you need an account to view the cars

    Yeah the GTD is 184 as well. Maybe the Octavia uses the mk6 GTD engine? I’m not sure. But yeah you are right. I’m looking at a 2015 Octavia VRS with 0.160 grams, or €2,800. Strange

    Mk6 GTD was 170bhp and an older variant of the 2.0 TDi engine.
