I was just thinking of who I’d put in an all time test cricket 1-11 since I’ve been watching the sport, following it and being fascinated by it...I started watching it in the early ‘90’s and from my memories, the best 11 I’ve seen playing test match cricket would be along the lines of...

    Graham Gooch
    Marcus Trescothick
    Brian Lara
    Sachin Tendulkar
    Virat Kohli
    Adam Gilchrist
    Shane Warne
    Alan Donald
    Waquar Younis
    Curtly Ambrose
    Glenn McGrath

What’s the best / your favorite 1-11 test match all star side since you began watching and following the sport..?

    Graeme Smith (C)
    Alistair Cook
    Hashim Amla
    Joe Root
    Mick Hussey
    AB de Villiers (wk)
    Ben Stokes
    Ravi Jadeja
    Pat Cummins
    Dale Steyn
    Jimmy Anderson

Mid 00s was when I first got into the sport, so I could have included a lot of the Aussie greats as well as Lara and the big Indian names. But kept it truer to the period I really watched.

Could have given at least three names for each position.

    Matthew Hayden
    Alastair Cook
    Brian Lara
    Ricky Ponting
    Sachin Tendulkar
    Shivnarine Chanderpaul
    Adam Gilchrist
    Shane Warne
    Jimmy Anderson
    Murali Muralitharan
    Glenn McGrath

Jimmy and Glenn to utterly frustrate any batting attack with consistent line and length. Warney and Murali to decimate with spin. Batting lineup to notch up about 2000 runs with consummate ease. Although their best position is perhaps 1 slot too far down from 4-7 for their best positions.

    Stokes
    Warne
    Broad
    McGrath
    Ambrose
