If you've to scrounge rejected coins to keep going I'd say you're doing something wrong. I'd just leave them personally.

So you found 5 euro in coins in the coin return slot? Prison for you I'm afraid.

the coin return slots are really badly sited, nearly impossible to retrieve without getting out.

    That's probably intentional.

Personally I'd leave it - more to the thought that someone who lands at the toll stuck for cash or a way to pay may use it.

Then again that be very wishful thinking

On the plus side, the next time you go to confession you'll have something nice and juicy for you and the priest to worry over your soul about.

M7 toll does anyway. I'd imagine it's standard across the board.

I remember once I had to put extra coins in many years ago on the toll on the M4. Good job I had extra coins on me as back then at times I would usually just have the exact amount ready to pay.

There is probably someone going through the CCTV right now trying to identify you .
You will probably then be issued with a FCPN , have your car seized and be disqualified for three months .
Oh and you won’t be able to post about your travails here if case someone might get offended.

N18 and M8 (same operator) were the last to accept cards. All the others always have

Thank you, I meant on the automated coin only lanes , I imagine they always took cards at the manned booth, but never saw a card tap before in the coin only lanes before, maybe I'm blind...

Back on the old days of the M50 toll barriers I was queueing, I noticed another car go through a lane than had a cone slightly blocking it. I had my 2 euro coin ready (those were the days) and I threw it into the bucket. Just as I was driving on I realized the bucket was full of could to the rim, and the barrier was stick up. The cone that was blocking the lane was to one side, and hundreds like me had thrown their money and drove on. I should have reversed and got out a shovel!

I used to roll up to toll booth on my motorbike. Side stand down.... Get off the bike.... Open bike gear pocket...... pay toll ............... then bend down and fill my hands with coins. :D:D:D:D There was always €5 or more on the ground. One day the toll operator in the booth said it was her money and said I was stealing it. So I took off my helmet and told her to call her boss and when he arrived I explained she had accused me of stealing. He took one look at the line of traffic (nearly back to airport) :D:D:D and told her to lift the barrier. After that I always made a profit at the toll gate.

No issue with that, sterling is not legal tender in this country. Brits Out!
