I missed the last vote. I think Bedfordshire is immediately more striking, but when you start to look closely at it, it starts to hurt the eyes. I think I'd have gone for Dorset.

But, like others have mentioned, I was intrigued by shells and waves on an inland county. According to Wiki, the waves represent the River Great Ouse and the shells come from the design of the Duke of Bedford. Which isn't very satisfactory as it still doesn't explain why the Duke of Bedford has shells on its coat of arms.

Apologies for the lack of sign-off last night! Great to see a good turnout for this competition and some of the reasons are top notch. There’s plenty of these flags I’ve never seen before, actually probably most of them, so it’s a brilliant introduction for me personally. Woah, nearly missed the party.

I like that Sutherland flag.
Geometrical perfection, nice colour combo.
Bit disappointed its only three years old but a fine effort for the highlanders.


And huntingdonshire is only about 12 years old - the engish counties seem to be a bit late themselves to the flag party. It's middlin.
