Hi. When the toilet flushes it makes a terrible noise. We did have a problem with water hammer but this was fixed by plumber. The plumber has been back twice re this noise changed ballcock at least twice but it still remains. There are bubbles in the water tank which he said indicates a leak. Had Irish water out and they found no leak. It is awfully noisy and feels like roof is coming down. I am no DIYer so all help appreciated.

Probably the simplest thing to try is to turn down the supply to the cistern.

Is this fed from mains or your tank in attic ? -upstairs or downstairs?
Is the noise start immediately, or when the cistern is almost full?

find out where the supply is, and if necessary fit a valve so it can be reduced. This wont reduce pressure, so when the cistern is almost full, ballcock starts to shutoff, this noise wont be reduced by much.

Something similar a few years ago.
Had to clip and secure all pipes.
