Choosing a laptop

Outside of specs and excluding checking online videos, reviews etc.

What is advisable when buying a new laptop if you don't visit a brick and mortar shop to assess the laptop's touch and feel, menu navigation, among others?

I've arrived at the above question because I'm looking at different laptops, but I previously never used the brand. I'm interested in the laptop's specs; however, I would like to have a trial run to assess its suitability and determine if I enjoy using it.

Hence, I'm considering renting a laptop for a week or two. Has anyone else done this or considered doing this?

    set your max budget

work out your uses and requirements e.g. portability, long battery life, gaming, video editing, durability etc.

look at options to meet that - e.g. light laptop with 4-core cpu and colour-accurate screen and metal build

read professional reviews covering all aspects of the laptop

Renting a laptop would be unusual and not sure what options you could get and may not be the current model

all well-known brands from Lenovo, Asus, Acer, HP etc make laptops from budget ones (under 600 usually) to mid-range (750 to 1100) to mid high-end to high-end (1500+)

you can't normally return a laptop after you buy it unless there is something wrong with it and after the first month you may be in a repair situation instead of a return
