Internet cable for log garden cabin

We're getting a log cabin and I'm looking on how best to get internet out there.

I use the ethernet plugs in my house but a friend told me that it won't work in the log cabin as it will have it's own fuse board.

Alternatively I will have to run a cat cable out to it.

It will be ran right next to a 6mm2 cable so I'm wondering which cat cable to use, Cat 6/7/8. I presume the higher the cat number then the better shielding it has.

What sort of distance are you thinking about?

If I get a garden office I'm considering a wireless mesh. Base unit next to router in sitting room, node in kitchen and node in garden office.

Run a cage 5 or 6 cable. There are ones for outdoor use, if you are not putting it in trunking etc, I.e it has direct light exposure...

What distance are you looking at? I put a repeater socket in my kitchen at the back door, this extends the network to my entire garden.

The ethernet plugs should work. The cabin will have its own fuse board, but that will be fed from your house’s fuse board.

They’re still the same circuit.

Ethernet would be preferable though if you can run that instead

We ran 2 x cat 6 cables with 10 sq electrical cable from the house to the garage through the same duct. About 50 meters between house and garage and have perfect wifi in the garage with a strong reliable connection and speed. No interference.

Power line wifi mesh won't work over different fuse boards (ie one in house and one in garage)
