I got this one two years ago. https://www.ecostore.ie/p/graf-slimline-wall-tank-300-litres---stone-finish/211811

It's a bit biggger and isn't an eyesore, and I love it.

I have a second smaller butt on the greenhouse that's 100L, some cheap green thing that's for extra water. The 300L gets low during drought.

Re size, that would depend what you need it for and what the catchment of the roof feeding into it is.

It's for a lean to at back of house. Like an outside room. Polycarbonate roof is roughly 3.5metre by 3.5 metre. Have guttering and downpipe fixed but no gully drain near. Noticed when I had no guttering up that there seemed an awful lot of rainwater coming off the roof so would probably need a 210 litre one at least.

That is quite a good looking water butt ,(as is the young lady in the picture :) ) , with free delivery! What's not to like ? I'm going to get one of those.
I have a feeling that with that extra height the water will come out under enough pressure to be adequate to supply a modestly sized irrigation system, with the aid of an electronic timer.

I had hoped it would have a lot of pressure, but it won't keep an irrigation system fed w/o a pump. Great otherwise, fills a watering can pretty quick.

I purchased three 200litre second hand blue drums, €20 each, with lids. Joined them all up to the house down pipe. Keeps me going all summer

Where do you find those drums? And you have, I guess, to buy diverters separately so there's a little additional for those aswell?

...how? A water butt is only going to have about 1m of head.

Has any tried an oak barrel? i hate the idea of more plastic

Wouldn't thing twice about using plastic in a case like this - it's going to be used for years and being just a big lump of polythene it can be easily and effectively recycled.

Found some on Adverts, guy was around Duleek. Had to purchase all accessories but a lot cheaper than a water butt all round.

It'll work , no problem.. it's just a barrel, it won't last forever, but it could look quiet good ,

    He's referring to this one:

mentioned by Tree on Post#2, it's very tall.

Provided the catchment is big enough, you can just use one diverter and plumb all the butts in series. One diverter, one outlet valve, six tank fittings and a short length of pipe.

Would a second hand IBC be an option? it holds 1000L. Can be got on done deal for a little more than the price of the 210 liter water butt in woodies... you might have to get the diverter kit separately for 15 or 20 euro. Food grade or ones used previously for food are available.

I don't think 200L would last me very long if there was a few weeks without rain ( unlikely as it may be!!! )

    That's still nothing.
It'll give you max .2bar. Mains pressure is minimum 1.5 and normally 3-5, but as high as 8 in some places.
I don't think anyone is selling 50m+ water butts

add one of these, otherwise you're never going to get any decent water pressure
