Issued three year license instead of ten

    Hi follks.

Passed my full B test last week and applied for my license after getting the medical completed on Monday. I have epilepsy but am three and a half years seizure clear. My epilepsy is well managed and my neurologist is quite happy to see me every two years now rather than yearly. My GP has signed off on a ten year license for me.

I just decided to look at the MyRSA section and can see my license, however the date of expiry is 2024. Surely this is a mistake? I have tried to contact the RSA about it as I dont have the physical license yet and I am hoping it will be different. Surely a random worker in the RSA can't supersede a doctors advice?

They have quite strict conditions for any neurological issue and primarily it is for your own safety.

A doctor can give a recommendation, but the final decision is the ndls and they don't just have some office person making the decision.

They state in their guidelines that you have to be 5 years seizure free for a 10 year license. (1 year free only gets a one year license)

So, good you have your license and are seizure free and you can look forward to a 10 year license when the current one expires.
