    Hi there,

Hoping you good people on here can give me your best assessment on the above - Basically we got a local Business to do our Fascia and Soffit on the Garage about 5 years ago & now need to get the house done also as the timber ones are in poor condition, rotting with flaking paint etc.

Was very impressed with the work and the installer and wouldn't hesitate to go right back to them except for the above issue? The original colour was a deep brown - pretty much the same colour as the darker shades in the photo which seem to have been less affected for some reason.

Basically whatever materials were used obviously held up very poorly to fading from sunlight. Kind of slow to go back to them in case the same happens again - To be fair I do realise that this guy just bought the best available product from his supplier and couldn't see the future with a crystal ball either - Just thought I'd ask on here and get the benefit of all of your opinions!

Wondering also is this particular brown colour a poor choice and known to be susceptible to this? The only issue is that if I change colour now the Garage would need to be redone for everything to match up.

Also can anyone recommend a product to restore colour on these? To be honest I don't even know if I should have been treating them with something all along!?

It's obviously possible to get brown PVC that doesn't fade.

I'm looking at some brown gutters and downpipes here that are very faded on the sunny side, but the fittings and joints/elbows look perfect. I also have oak effect doors that haven't faded.

I guess it's a matter of getting material with the right specification. I'd suggest discussing it with the guy you used before- see if he can offer something better.
