Seems to be pretty expensive getting vaccinated in India, just from reading the company chat.. 1400 INR (~€16) for a dose of their own Covaxin vaccine, and about half of that for Covishield (=AZ). At private hospitals.

Apparently the government has set the prices at 1200 for Covaxin and 600 for Covishield, but there are some "admin" fees too.

It's not across India. Individual states have the power to decide what they are doing and a lot of the states are vaccinating for free - with the private option on the side for those who want to go that route. Kerala for instance, continues to vaccinate people for free and just today I heard a number of people I know of my age has been vaccinated this week (while I am still waiting for that text from HSE).

Large country, complex situation etc etc as always. Ground news I am hearing is that there are a lot of deaths happening, despite the extremely strict lockdown in place for last number of weeks.
