    Hi all

I was thinking of buying one of these as a daily driver . The 5 door version doesn’t seem to fetch much money and appears decent value .

Originally I was on the look out for a classic 900 shape but they are few and far between to say the least .

What would folks opinion be on the 9-3 . Technically they might not be a classic now but may be more desirable in the future .

Is done deal my best chance of finding a decent one or should I be looking at other options .

    Thanks
    Barr

    I've had a 9-3 1997 which was a lovely car.
But it's unlikely to be a good daily driver these days, parts are expensive as they are scarce.

That said, go ahead. They are so cheap now that if something breaks you haven't lost much if you need to scrap it.

Good point on the parts being scarce . With SAAB not being in existence any more could make things a bit more tricky .

I was thinking the likes of ebay UK would be my best bet .

I knew of a fella in Waterford that had a load of them scrapped - this was years ago , probably long gone at this stage .

You will pay import duty on ebay uk

See if you can find a Saab forum for Ireland or UK. Buy the car there, it will vouch for a knowledgeable previous owner.

I had a 2004 Saab 9-3 years ago. It was 1.8 petrol. Basic enough spec. I actually wasn't mad on how it drove and my dad at the time said it was an Opel Vectra with a Saab badge, but I did and do always have a soft spot for how Saabs look.

This one seems good value and fits your bill but it's for sale a while so I suppose you'd have to check it out carefully:

I did spot that one - it's been around a while.

It's very far away from me to give it a look over . However ,looking at the pictures , I'd say it's rough enough.

There looks to be rust around the sunroof.

There are a bunch on adverts too to look at

Remember Saab had an oil sump issue so not all Saabs are good buys.
