Why so few Emoticons on Boards?

This had been a little bugbear for me lately, posting on boards.

Wanting to wish someone a happy birthday or wishing to convey something nuanced in a post but the current selection of emoticons to the right hand side of the text windows is extremely......limited.

I know it’s possible to get emoticons from other sources, but usually nice posted up here they come out as gibberish as boards doesn’t recognise them.

Anyone else in agreement? Will we petition the admins?

Because with more smilies, people may be able to get both the point and feeling behind the message across. This would then reduce the amount of people who take a post up the wrong way, and as a result it would kill boards, because it's more fun to argue over semantics than the post in hand.
