Replacing battery - special codes?

    Greetings!

2010 Merc E Class W212 200 cdi, needs new battery. Have sourced what I think is the right one. Exact physical dimensions, + & - posts in the right place, and correct (or should I say, supplier recommended) characteristics 95 AH, 850A CCA.

Everywhere I look is recommending AGM 80+ AH and 800+ CCA.

    So, my question is:
Does the car 'recognise' the battery, ie, are there codes that are either read by the system direct from the battery, or must codes be configured into the system manually when replacing the battery?

    Edit: sticking to the topic....
I watched a couple of youtube videos. Audis and some BMWs definitely need an OBD type device to update the BEM. However, in the case of Mercs, it seems to be, just swap it and reset your windows. Anyone know different?

    Thanks

Merc started using AGM with the W211 waaaay back in the day. Make sure you fit AGM if you can. If you give me reg or chassis I'll tell you the correct recommended battery per Mercedes

    Thanks BavarianCare!

As per our PM's I'm going to put up here the info you provided, by virtue of your access to the relevant data. It may be useful to any others who search here for this info.

    "Mercedes Part Number: A 004 541 86 01
Turns out this is a 70Ah AGM Battery known as a 096 in the trade."

Now, interestingly THAT is exactly the battery in my car. So my fears that its under powered or whatever are unfounded. Its simply OLD :pac::pac: (datestamp on - post says 48/09 IIRC)

So, if I get my hands on one of those, does that mean a straight swap without a need for any kind of programming.

What if I go for the 'seemingly' higher spec type of AGM battery I referred to in my original post - can that be just straight swapped as well? One is a Halfords at 229€€ or thereabouts so seems like a lot of CCAs per euro.

Lastly, after a recharge and improvement in the weather, the original battery is working fine -ish. Starts within 3 seconds everytime, usually within 1 seconds.
