Help available to pay rent.

Hi, recently separated and currently living in the short term in a mates spare room. I’m really worried being honest as I cannot afford to rent anything myself with the cost of rent in my area and any house shares are very very scarce. Would I be entitled to anything like rent supplement etc as first time renter or are any of these aids only available to people who are already on the rental ladder? I just don’t know what my options are or where I can turn to, all I do know is there’s no way I can afford to rent a property after paying maintenance etc. Any info much appreciated

Sorry to hear of your predicament.

As far as I am aware you need to have been renting for a period of time to get assistance.

Yes. You can get help with this . The landlord needs to accept it. Ring the council they will point you in the right direction
