    Hi,

Quick question, I have a nextbase rear view mirror dashcam that covers the original rear view mirror, and I have the NCT tomorrow...

I was wondering if I should remove it, and just leave the regular rear view mirror instead?

    Thanks,

Just leave it. They'll put a glove over the lens as you can't record in the NCT centre

I Was Called Out From The Viewing Bay By A Tester To Remove my Dashcam.
That was About 3 Years Ago in Arklow Test Centre.:o

One of the lads at work got given out to for having his dashcam running when he dropped the car into the nct .
Id remove it and it might have the tester in a better humour . Certain things that could fail one day could pass if he was in a good humour

    Thanks,

I think I'll err on the side of caution and remove it for the test.

    Better safe then sorry. :)

They do have signs up about no recording but dash cams should be removed when going for an nct

Must be different rules in different centres. I got tested a few weeks ago and all they did was put a glove over the lens, which they took off when they parked it outside.

If they'd asked I could easily have turned it off. I can't see them having issues with a camera if you turn it off when requested, they are so common these days must people probably forget that they are fitted. People still forget to remove child seats and hud caps which they specifically say have to be removed.

What I normally do is just pull out the power cable so they can clearly see it's not plugged in. Never had an issue!

Child seats specifically don’t have to be removed - “If the baby seat is left in the car for the NCT, it will be checked that it is fitted correctly.“ :pac:

    Hi,

In the end I left it in place because its kind of fiddly to adjust and I had it just the way I like it ! But I did disconnect it.

Anyway, the test is done, it passed with flying colours, so I'm happy out. Another two years until the next test!

    Thanks for all the replies.
