Spraying a door?

Someone crashed into me recently and damaged a rear door of the car. I got a second hand one and my repair man told me to drop over the door to him before I drop over the car. My question is, will he prime the door and secondly does he spray finish the door separately or does he spray it after he attaches the door to my car when I bring the car over? Thirdly he says he mixes the paint himself to get a matching colour. What's the procedure with that? How does he mix it, is it a computerised mixing system or what. He's not much of a talker so I didn't like to ask these questions.

He'll probably just prep it. The whole side of the car will need to be done for it to be perfect. Just doing the door in isolation from the code could look off.

Very few places will spray the whole side of the car for a door, that'd be a massive job, the best you'll get is misting on the other panels to blend the new paint with the old.

Fair point. For mine they sanded down the whole side, misted the other panels and relacquered the whole side.

That would be standard imo depending on the car design/ colour
