Just did my NCT today and thankfully, the car passed. As I left the centre, I asked for a holder to stick to the window to hold insurance/tax/nct discs but was told that I had to pay for it. This surprised me as never had to pay before with previous cars. Only cost €2 but the man at the desk requested a €2 coin only- no contactless payments accepted. How strange during Covid times! Also no receipt offered! I’m wondering now if this €2 payment is legit? I don’t begrudge €2 ...this is just strange!

    Some insurance gave out

Think there was a single use plastic waste backlash against this - of all the disc holders that Quinn sent me every year / every reg change I think I used one of them and binned the rest; multiply that by hundreds of thousands of customers...

€2 is roughly the cheapest you're going to get one on eBay, although you can get slimmer and less garish ones than the NCT ones. No idea about why they can't take card payments other than the card readers all being at reception.

Yes, Pawel Fraudski is ripping you off in this blatant scam. Report him to the Guards immediately.

Insurance companies stopped giving them out with renewals maybe, but they have them if you ask for one. I normally have it on the car years so wouldn't be single-use.

This is a testament to how thick I actually am. I bothered to read the thread and then just flagrantly ignored the OP. You couldn't make this shít up.
