water in the plastic over fridge motor

I am defrosting my fridge and noticed a little water in the plastic over the motor see attached. just a couple of millimeters could mop up with tissue

    Is this OK?

I am defrosting because the temp is 4 or 5 degrees mostly by my fridge thermometer. I read ice in the top freezer part can make it hard to cool. There is about 2 inches of ice:eek::o you cannot take out the shelf it is iced in

I left the top part open for a couple of hours last night with the fridge still plugged in. I was trying to avoid a defrost, would that account for the water?

The water comes from the defrosting ice on the fridge section rear wall, the heat from the compressor motor keeps it dried out.

You will probably notice a little gulley with a hole at the bottom at the back of the fridge. Thats where the water is coming from. Make sure that the pipe is clear (use a thin bit of wire to poke down it) because that helps to keep your fridge from icing up.

Wake me up when it's all over.

Thanks guys I sorted that out re the water.

.But my fridge is a little warm temp fluctuating. I thought the defrost would sort it and it did for a few hours

I have this .The temp goes from 2 degrees to 6. . When i was moving it out the left side panel was warm from top to bottom is that normal? Could that thermometer be faulty.I put a small digital clock with a thermometer beside it. Clock 2 degrees. One i linked 6 degrees just intored

I find that these type thermometers are not accurate, a mercury thermometer is far more accurate. a simple way of checking is fill a glass with water and leave overnight,(not a plastic container) if the glass is really cold to touch you are at circa 3 degrees c which is cold enough for any fridge
