    Bit of help needed lads.

I bought a van just after Christmas and it's sitting up at the father's house in the north.

I want to get it on to southern plates etc but I'm not sure has anything changed with Brexit.

I'm living in Dublin and I'm vat registered in construction. The van is 2015.

It's years from I changed a van across.

The father can put it on a trailer and meet me at a test centre (Monaghan or Dundalk).

What do I need to bring? I have the tax book (ownership was transferred fine).

    Thanks in advance!!

Download the relevant form from the Revenue website. Did you buy from a trader or private? Have you the paid Invoice or receipt? VAT will be payable as well as the vrt.

    Thanks.

Was a private sale with no vat.

    Have the v5 form.

You will need receipt from seller showing vehicle registration number and purchase price, the price is irrelevant as Revenue will base everything on their own valuation. Receipt will need to specify sellers name and address. It’s different for any vehicle coming across from England etc. Receipt can be hand written. If seller is not willing to give you a receipt for whatever reason you will need to be creative

Receipt must be from the person named on the V5

Is it a mainland UK or NI address on the V5?

NI address. Saw it on done deal and it was close to my dad's house so he went over and picked it up for me.

Did he get a receipt from the seller?

Yep. Handwritten but the seller put his name, address and phone number on it.
