Renault Grand Scenic child lock 1 door only?

So my 3 year old daughter has discovered how to open the car door from the inside. She did this in my husband's car at the weekend and now thinks it's hilarious. He drives an X1 and was able to manually activate a child lock using a switch on the side of her door.

I'm wondering is it possible to do the same on my car - 2012 Renault Grand Scenic. The only option I seem to have is to lock both rear doors using the child lock switch (which is also the window lock switch) on the driver's door. The problem with locking both doors is I also have a 9 year old son, so this would stop him being able to open his door on his own. I'd have to turn it off to let him out and I'm worried that with having to turn the child locks on and off all the time I may forget to activate them at some stage and my daughter will open the door.

The user manual seems to suggest that it is possible to lock the doors individually using a small switch in the door, similar to what my husband has, but when I've tried that the switch just flicks straight back as soon as I move it.

Has anyone else run into this situation and managed to just lock one rear door?

This is the section in the manual, but it doesn't seem to work.

Some cars will have a manual lock in the door itself and it seems yours' too.
If the button just flips back there could be a mechanical issue with it. Try spraying WD40 and see if that helps.
If not then a mechanic should be able to figure it out.

I'm with Biko on this, Toots. Certainly on our (years gone) '08 Scenic, the rear doors could be independently, via the white manual toggle switch as per your photo, be child-locked or not. Similarly aged kids at the time too, though we never had this problem.

Thanks guys. My previous Scenic (08) was able to do this but I'm wondering is there some mechanism issue. WD40 hasn't changed things. I know the scenics are prone to child lock issues so possibly something gone wrong here.

This might be a daft remark, surely your car has central locking?
Your page said manual locking, maybe there's another page somewhere?

It does have central locking, it locks automatically once I go above about 10kph and then there's also a button on the dash where you can manually engage the
central locking. Unfortunately if the car is stationary, the doors can be opened from the inside, even if it's just stopped in traffic with the ignition on. From research online it's apparently an anti hijack feature  doors can't be opened from the outside but no problem from the inside.

I didn't see another page in the handbook that dealt with it, but I'll have another check in the morning.

Edit: there isn't a locking switch on each door, like in older style cars where there's a little knob that pops up and down.
