Weirdest call/text/email you've gotten?

This happened ironically last year before lockdown. We were doing presentations in my college and I shared the first and last name initials with a teacher.

A student who did their project on 9/11 conspiracies entitled "Why 9/11 was a hoax" e-mailed the professor and myself. Was freaked out as to why I was receiving it.

Ever received something like this?

Last year my mother broke her hip, she was 90 at the time Due to covid she had no hospital visitors.
One Sunday morning she sank very low, both emotionally and physically. The staff took it seriously enough that they contacted the family and suggested someone get to the hospital.
My sister got there first and was allowed in briefly. No one else was going to be allowed in.

On my way to the hospital, I received a call from my mother - to say goodbye. She very calmly expressed regret that she wouldn't see me or my wife again and that she loved us.
She called each of her 5 children.
I had no doubt, at the time, that it was the last time I'd speak to her. It was strangely calm and peaceful, really.

I'm very happy to say that she recovered fully and is back home living alone!

It was a strange phone call, though.

I got multiple calls and texts over the space of about a week threatening me with legal action and some action of the physical kind. It sounded like they had a rented house wrecked by someone. Turns out my name and address is very similar to the person they meant to contact.

It took a lot of persuasion for them to believe that I wasn't who they were looking for. I'm not sure if they ever fully believed me but they stopped calling anyway

A video of an agitated German fella in an army uniform calling me a pussy and saying he was going to shoot me followed by a pile of mentions from him to my twitter account. And all because he was mad about my ex gf. She broke down and confessed on the spot. They had a one night thing.

Next day found myself at the Guards station who were absolutely useless so I had to deal with it myself and engage with the police in Stuttgart.

I once got a call from a private number saying they were the Garda and I was in big trouble and that I should call Waterford Garda station. 5 minutes later they rang back asking why I didn't call, I said I didn't know the number and they told me I should ring 11811 for it, then they wanted my details. I just hung up. Few minutes later the fire brigade rang me and apologized saying they gave the Garda the wrong number.

Got an email from a (then) VP in my company with a screenshot of something work related, that contained the following:



Seconds before, he had sent another (female) colleague an email cancelling a phone meeting, saying he "was sick in bed".

Gobshíte couldn't even go to Pornhub without searching for it. And who the hell uses Yahoo?

I was expecting a call from Cork, and I got a missed call from a Cork landline. When I phoned back it said the number was unavailable so I looked it up on the internet and it said it was reported as dodgy. They phoned back again and said I had an appointment booked in to the Mercy Hospital for the next day, which was true.

A guy once called my phone and left a voice message reading mass over the phone ..he called to try and finish it ...he would leave sexual threats too and was stupid enough to leave them in voice messages

Turned out the guy who did it i had met a few times ...he basically would do this to any number he got for kicks ....he would ring up with different voices from the same number tho.



Basically after a while everyone he knew started to avoid him like a pothole.

When I was at a 21st after party in a house my mobile pocket dialed my parents home phone and it went to the messaging service and they got the entire rendition of The Rattlin Bog when they woke up next morning. All 10 or more verses.
Good night last night? asked my dad when I finally surfaced at about 4 pm

Once picked up a ringing payphone in the middle of athlone. I recognised the voice on the other as did the caller, turns out it was a mate, random dialing local numbers to prank them, I just happened to be walking past the phone box.

4 or 5 years ago, over the space of a month or so I got loads of calls & texts from lots of diff numbers, day and night looking to meet me for “ my services” , was easy to work out what they wanted from the messages even though they were careful to never explicitly state
Eventually went to Gardai, who said my number must be one digit off a number being used to advertise , other than changing my number not much they could recommend me do , I told them I had a list of the numbers but they weren’t interested
It stopped and then started up again for a while a few months later , then completely stopped

Got a call yesterday from a private number. I normally answer private numbers as a friend regularly calls me from work and the number is always private.

Anyway, the voice sounded Polish or Eastern European. Was some guy looking for his money and said that he'd be at my door in 5 minutes. Just said wrong number and hung up.

Probably someone who bought cocaine/speed/methamphetamine on 'tic' and didn't pay back. From my social circle, many (not all) Eastern Europeans do tend to be quite fond of stimulant drugs.

Well, he didn't call back or arrive at my door lol. Thinking about it, it might have been one of those prank calls that a friend (different friend) likes to use.

The other thread reminded me of this. When I was a Garda, I got a few calls to the station from people saying they were sold oregano as weed.

Basically, yeah. One of them I repeated what he said back to me. Reminded him he called the Guards to report this. He wouldn't give me any details so there was nothing I could do for him unfortunately...

When I was about 14/15 and I had my first mobile, got a call from a hidden phone number:

"Listen you pr*ck, stay away from my wife"

Me: "What?"

"You know who this is, stay the f*ck away from my wife"

Me: "Mister I'm 15, I don't know who your wife is"

"Sh*t, wrong number. I'm sorry"

Me: "That's ok, bye."

Had totally forgotten that until I saw this thread title.

I did get a phone call from Eircom Phonewatch before and the person insisted my alarm was going off despite the fact we don't have one or I'm not a key holder.
The guy wouldn't believe me and he said it had to have being mine.

Ordered a taxi ossified after the pub and saw it moments later. When we got in we were very drunk and probably didn't do enough due diligence.

Woke up to 7 missed calls and an absolutely irate voicemail

"You got in the wrong prick... You got in the wrong cab you prick".

Absolutely ruined us, I must have played it 600 times. Upon reflection I felt a bit bad but I also thought it was an overreaction.
