Paint stain

We removed the fireplace and repainted the chimney breast a few months ago and slowly a red streak started to show through (there was red paint on it originally).

We repainted it but within a few days it was back. I bought a can of Pollycell stain stop and after spraying it it actually made it worse.

Any ideas of what else I could do before chipping away the plaster and reskimming?

Paint the rest of it the same colour as the stain?

Is that line on the corner of the chimney breast?

Try the BIN stain blocker used for water stains, reviews here

Hmm what's the stain coming from. I would have a hard think about that first. Is there a leak or damp coming though.

Bin is great stuff btw as above

But of you have continued damp bin won't stop water. It does however cover up stains very well.

That area was covered by the fireplace surround, no signs of damp so I'll give BIN a go.

I'm wondering is the chimney breastade of brick, would it be that bleeding through?

Either way the Bin primer should block it.
