Doing a full service on a family members car, Dacia sandero stepway, just have a question about the fuel filter as I havent changed one that looks like it, just a closed unit with the 3 pipes on top and a plastic screw type thing at the bottom, I presume to drain fuel out of, does anyone know is this style filter just a simple pull fuel lines off old and insert onto new, a little O-ring gasket came with it but not sure where it would go? It also has a little rattle when you shake it, is this normal for some new filters?

Are you sure that's the right one, there's about 4 different types of filter for the 1.5dci

I know yes and I'm sure, got it from a motor factors and they said its main dealer spec. Also sized it up with the one on the car looks the same, same brand also.

What I compared my new filter to was the fuel filter housing, it's the wrong part, and you were right. Filter I need is a paper filter that goes into the housing. But I see two types of paper filter one with a bowl shape on the bottom and the other is like a cylindrical paper filter with a plastic rod sticking out the bottom. Both come with new screws for the housing and same O-rings. Now I'm lost

This is indeed the fuel filter its a plug and play job should be a primer pump like a bulb connected to one of the hoses to prime it with fuel. They used to have a tap on the side for letting water out of it if it entered the system. So maybe this is the use of the bottom one if none on side. Cannot tell you if rattle is normal.

That's not the correct fuel filter as previous poster said theres about 4 different types (which is ridiculous). I had started the job the other day and when I got to the filter it's not the one in the link that you shared, it's a paper filter inside a metal housing held down by a top plate where the connections and fuel lines go to. The plate is secured to the housing with 5 T30 torx screws. I got tbe correct filter it is a cylindrical paper filter and has a plastic bowl shaped bit attached to the bottom that is part of the filter element and cant be removed. Also no primer pump on the car its primed by turning key to ignition a number of times before starting. Renault/dacia really make it difficult I've never encountered such frustration doing a basic service job
