You see that in a lot of garages. They've imported the car but have not reregistered it yet pending sale, yet want to show what year it is. No legal standing, just a sales device.

It does present an issue when they’re using proper format plates with a reg number that isn’t for the car on the roads though.

Have seen it a few times in the last months. Today it came to police attention. It was in a crash on N81
