Growing Tomatillos Advice?

Hello all, I'm gonna give a shot at going some tomatillos in a raised bed vegtrug we were given recently (with a greenhouse style cover) Complete newbie to this, Could anyone advise what the type of soil I need is? I've read 1 part sand to 3 parts compost, does it also need top soil? Should I start the seeds off indoors…
