When I started this thread, i had hoped to get peoples opinions on that particular investment i had made, roughly 1 k euro on five US stocks as per a recommendation.
At that time I was up 1275 euro, this has now fallen to 450 ish,Axxon representing virtually all of that 450.

my gut feeling back then was to pocket the gains, but hindsight etc

The other investment/gamble I made was 3,500 euro in NVIDIA(also Motley Fool)
It went nowhere for weeks on end ,now up 350 ish. Mf are still recommending this share at todays price.

    regards

Stock investing requires at least a five year horizon, so if you don't have the mentality to see things through you're more likely to be better off in the long run if you just sell everything off and do dollar cost averaging on an ETF or a trust.

Alternatively, stop listening to the talking heads, stop checking the prices etc... and forget about it for the next 18 months or so, unless the newsletter brings bad news or issues a warning about your stock.

Jim , I read your comment way back,Thank you for that. did not get around to commenting.

I am not on today to query your suggestions, your initial comment is the same as Motley Fool's ,its a five year cycle. While i dont entirely agree with that, banking a considerable profit in year one can be an excellent idea.

In mu opening piece on this thread ,i mentioned that my approx 5 k investment in five or six recommendations, was up 1250 euro, say 22 per cent. i hmmed and hawed too much (against my basic instincts).

Today that bundle of shares are minus 480 euro. i had put it in as a MF plan, three to five years, so perhaps MF ,and perhaps you, are right. They may yet have their day.

On a seperate note I put 2 k into Aryzta, following a newspaper tip,(after they had disposed of some US bakery stuff)

Three times since it has hit a 20 % gain. but i didnt!
    since yesterday that 20 % is a 4% gain

    Regards

I personally am not selling Nvidia for probably 3-5 years+
There's a lot to like about Nvidia and they are in all the right areas for growth, yes the stock isn't cheap at current prices but I'd be more likely to add more Nvidia than sell it.
I'd be disappointed if this one didn't double or get close to doubling within the next 5 years
