Bought a car 5 months ago and I brought it to the garage last week as I noticed an issue with the hand break. It turns out there s a few jobs to be done which should be covered within warrenty however I have called the garage I bought the car off and I feel I am being given the run around. The guy that I get through to tells me he's just the sales guy and will get the guy I bought the car off to call me back but he hasn't yet. I'm just wondering if there is anything I can do besides name and shame ?

Are you sure that they are warranty issues? Have you called to the garage in person and spoken to the manager/owner?

If you have an engine and gearbox warranty.

Call up to book a warranty repair. I wouldn't be waiting for calls back. Let them know you have an issue, you think it is under warranty, and would like to get them to have a look at it. It's yes or no at that stage.

Is this a garage that has its own workshop?

How am I supposed to bring the car to him in these 2 scenarios considering I bought it in Cork and I live in Waterford

    A. Covid

    B. If there are issues with the cars breaks it isn't safe to drive that far o a journey

Isn’t the issue with the handbrake?

That was the initial issue but there are other issues that I haven't listed which I haven't listed which included the breaks

Eek. What sort of a setup is the garage? Is it a proper dealer with a service department?

Make sure you do something soon or they will say 6 months is up.

Do you have any paperwork showing warranty and what it covers or does not cover? Are these new issues or have they always been the case?

Do you have an independent opinion that these repairs need doing and that they needed doing when the car was sold 6 months earlier?

You can travel for car repairs for covid. If car is not safe on the road then ask them to collect. You can also haggle and try get it repaired locally if they will cover the cost.

You should also consider these may be new faults and rightly not covered under warranty., just normal wear and tear

i think as a last resort you need to write a formal letter detailing the issues and stating you will be booking the car in for remedial work just as soon as the Covid restrictions ease and meantime park the car up if it has safety issues. In the meantime, it has been less than a week since you rang, keep ringing.

You may need to arrange the car to be brought to the garage so.
