Anyone familiar with the process for vrt exemption.
This is a genuine case of moving from uk to ireland and taking in a car owned 2 years.
Has it changed now that uk is outside eu?
No issue coming up with proofs required but what form is required and is it a vrt appointment like any other or is it different.

OP, did you get a definitive answer on this? Looking for info myself but finding it hard to get post brexit info.

My relative is still waiting to move over due to covid etc but we did find a form that deals with transfer of residence from a country outside the eu.
Clearly the form was designed before brexit but it should be ok. It deals with all personal items being brought in, but has the car/vrt section too.
Form c&e 1076 i think. Its designed around having an importer / haulier moving all personal items but its best i can find.

Does this work if you've lived in the north for 6 months?

Are you sure you are looking at the VRT TOR form? There is no reference to EU at all.

That form is to deal with VAT and customs/excise. It’s not relevant for VRT.

Marcusm, Did you look at either form. The title of the TOR form you link says transfer from within eu. This was clearly the correct form pre brexit but surely not now.
The c&e 1076 as a title states exemption from import charges and vrt.

I understand transfer of residence exempts you from VRT, are you also exempt from VAT and import duty? All the info I’m finding is pre brexit.

Funnily enough I have used it twice and never noticed that. There is no distinction from a VRT perspective in a transfer of residence within the EU or elsewhere. There is no VAT/Customs form for an intro-EU transfer. The C&E 1076 does seem to relate to all three tax heads and if the VRT exemption certificate is issued on the back of it, no issue should arise.

I’m actually surprised that there is a single form rather than requiring separate ones.
