Hello, I'm looking to buy a 2013 Opel Corsa 1.2 Cdti 5dr. Has anyone any experience with this car? I just spoke with a mechanic I know and he said to stay away from them as their is a known problem with the ECU brain. I know nothing about cars but was getting a good deal for this car and has low milage. Anyone able to advise me or know anything about this? TIA.

I have an 11 1.3cdti with just under 370k on it
    Has been pretty reliable...
Earlier models ecu were susceptible to water damage afaik but this was changed on later ones..I haven’t had any ecu issues on mine

Price seems ok rather than a good deal imo. Do you have a link to the advert?

Only issue outside wear and tear was an alternator failure...

Other than that been reliable enough ..keeping an eye on a slight oil leak at the mo bit given the high mileage it doesn’t really owe me anything at his stage...

With lockdown I’m doing more short journeys which doesn’t really suit it..needs a decent spin once a week so engine can regen

    That's cheap motoring

My son has a 2012 1.3cdti with 85000 miles on it.
No problems really other than servicing.
a bit smokey on start up but i guess that goes with a 9 year old diesel.
very economical, i mean 60mpg plus and low tax.
Actually enjoy driving it myself for a change, getting out of a 3 Litre Audi !

I have a 2011 1.3 cdti pushing 150k miles now. Only issue I had was the dpf needed refurbing, other than that just typical costs of servicing etc. Great mpg out of it, gets good spins to work weekly and smaller trips around town. Solid car all round.

It's a Fiat engine used by quite a few manufacturers.
Key to longevity would be regular oil changes as it has a timing chain, so service history would be an important factor.

Also as above, these engines are much better for longer journeys, otherwise EGR valve/ DPF Filter can be troublesome.
