Hi I'm just wondering does anyone have a timescale of when after applying for the Defined Illness benefit can one expect payment as its already deducted from my wages but not received from social welfare.
On Monday about three weeks ago work rang myself and a number of colleagues and asked us not to go to work to stay off until further notice and as one of our colleagues had identified us as close contacts. We were not allowed to return to work that week until the following Monday (colleagues test result had come back negative but there was a delay in them being tested)
Was off work from Monday the eleventh jan for one week applied for the social welfare payment that Thursday but still haven't received anything but work has deducted the €350.
Any idea of when to expect payment?

I'm totally confused by your query, firstly it's enhanced illness benefit and has absolutely nothing to do with your employer, indeed just because an employer tells an employee to stay off work does not entitle an employee to this payment.

The process involves an application after you've been advised by a GP or HSE to self isolate, has this occurred? The application further requires a screen shot of this request (Text, letter etc), did you supply this with application?

If criteria is met, the payment is normally processed quickly and payment usually within a week. I'd certainly be contacting SW ASAP if no payments recieved, finally this also has nothing to do with wages.

I assume the employer is paying full wages minus the amount of illness benefit. That’s what they mean. The thing is though you are not entitled to the full payment if you are receiving something from your employer. At least that’s the way it was a number of years ago when I received payment from an employer during a time of illness.

I honestly didn't think this would be the case given the EIB quite specific, but I get your reading of the question :)
