I purchased a ride on mower at 500 last March in Derry on Facebook Marketplace and paid in full by paypal and due to lockdown did not getting picking it up but seller said he would keep it for me, seller did not want to see anyone during this time and said would keep it. Then months later for some reason I was removed from Facebook Marketplace and got no reason why and the seller now phone number not working and information I could not get.
I tried the email address I HAD BUT BOUNCED BACK and paypal said they had no details only the email address and told me it was active still on account.
I contacted my credit card company and same story there
I only have the name but no address

    What can I do now

Try open a dispute with PayPal for refund? 10 months might be too long though.

I am sorry to say, I think your money has gone. FB marketplace has zero comeback and is rife with people selling things and disappearing.

you think the bank would have the other persons details.
I may try FB in the hope of getting back on but probably if I do all the messages would be gone.

Possibly stating the obvious here, but paying in advance is very risky, unless the seller has an established reputation on Ebay or Adverts or?

Prob even harder to get anything done now post brexit.

Sorry to hear - never pay for anything in advance - even adverts - you can offer/bid but cash on viewing/receipt only - unfortunate lesson.

Maybe google the email you had and see if anything shows up randomly - you never know

Even if they did they can't give you any personal information of another account holder.

Wouldn't necessarily agree with this, particularly with the current restrictions on travel and meeting up. If a seller has a solid reputation for selling by post, payment in advance is generally safe.

Sorry for your loss, but you paid a substantial sum of money to somebody outside our jurisdiction without getting an address.
