Rankings update, big change in 800m womens, Loiuse Shannahan swaps places with Georgie Hartigan, both her Nadia and Siofra are in.

If Hartigan hadve won the national championship, she’d have been in…

English gets his sub 1.45, looks like a lot of lads hit the standard for Tokyo.

*Confirmed 2nd place in 1.44.71 must be his fastest time ever? Top 4 under 1.45.2

    What spikes was he wearing?

Will the Irish team be wearing Joma gear or Adidas gear for the Olympics?

We had New Balance at the last Olympics. Their gear was ok then but now it’s one of the best out there. New Balance have done a great job the last few years.
Athletics Ireland have Joma. Purely a financial choice obviously as they don’t have any prestige like the other big brands. Couldn’t imagine anyone getting excited about their Joma drop :p

    Love the current NB gear.

So it Adidas for the Olympics and Joma for the rest?

Can't post about a world record and not post the time :p

46.70 WR for Warholm! Beating Kevin Young's mark set all the way back in 1992. Been coming for years, and to do it on home soil is the ultimate icing on the cake. Delighted for him!

Huge shame for Barr as I think he could have run a big one.

He says he's ok on Twitter, just a bruised ego.

Brilliant night for Eilish McColgan, runs 14:28.55 to break Paula Radcliffe's 5k national record. Sets a PB of around 18 seconds, bodes well for her hopes of doing the 5K/10K double in Tokyo.

Great night for Stewart McSweyn also:

He looks like he was struggling with his stride pattern right from the gun. I wonder was he trying something new with the hope of delivering a special performance.

Eilish McColgan surprised me. I thought her absolute limit was 14:35 - 14:40. Very happy to be proven wrong. Must give her a lot of confidence going into Tokyo. She should be pushing for top 6 in both events.

Thank goodness this happened here and not in Tokyo anyway, that would be a total bummer.

And another American out of Tokyo due to doping violation.

Sha’kari tested positive for weed, just a few days after getting praise from Michelle Obama.

Lots of her fans claiming it’s not performance enhancing, that she was in grief from the death of her natural mother etc. If you’re heading to Tokyo why the fcuk would you be smoking weed?!?

Yep, agreed. Seriously, just how stupid do you have to be to smoke cannabis in an Olympic year? Whether it's performance enhancing or not, it's a prohibited substance. If true, and she does indeed the Olympics, it'll be a costly mistake but one that she's solely responsible for. Zero sympathy from me.

Jaysus. What a **** show. She was rapidly becoming the poster girl for the sport and now this. I’ve read that she grew up in very difficult circumstances, but you would have to wonder how she lacks such basic common sense. Looks like Jenna Prandini will be going in both the 100m and 200m.

The two Namibian sensations, Christine Mboma and Beatrice Masilingi, have also been withdrawn from the 400m in the olympics. They both emerged this year, with Mboma recently running 48:5x in Poland. For context, Swiety-Ersetic, a world championship finalist in Doha, was 3 seconds behind. The speculation is that both athletes may be intersex. They will however be eligible to compete in the 200m. Another PR disaster waiting to happen..

To be fair she is an absolute headcase. As in she is bonkers.
Was never going to be an actual star of athletics like Bolt, more like a Conor McGregor.
She will eventually get busted for proper failed tests or missing tests. If your stupid enough to smoke weed at Olympic trials, you are stupid enough to inject yourself with PEDs.
By and large Americans are idiots. Justin Gatlin loved by them and hailed as one of their all time greats. Enough said. Oh Donald Trump lol
