In light of the arrival of the new global players ( Dentons, DLA etc) who in your opinion are Ireland’s biggest and most prestigious law firms in 2021

I appreciate your response, albeit out of date. My question is more so how are the new entrants viewed in the Irish legal market.

Despite the new entrants, based on your question, Arthur Cox, A&L Goodbody, Matheson, McCann FitzGerald remains the most prestigious law firms in the country. I'm going to be training at AC so I'm not sure if I'm biased, but it's the biggest firm by numbers in the country.

Anybody with experience with Dentons will tell you its the most bloat firm in existence. Also crap salaries considering how it likes to tout itself as the biggest firm in the world.

That’s an interesting take (not that I necessarily disagree) . What’s your view on the established international firms - Maples, Walkers and Eversheds.

Eversheds has a good reputation as they've been in the Irish market a number of years. Walkers is new but growing if you look at the number of people they're taking on.

Maples, like Walker, is funds based and known for excellent trainee salaries. They do a lot of international work. President Obama, I think, referred to their offices in the Cayman Islands as being the 'biggest tax scam in the world.' His words not mine! Just a funny anecdote.

Maples and Walkers are Cayman Islands company secretarial firms with pretensions. They probably do more pure legal work in Dublin than in their home bases but very niche.

A very valid remark. Often wondered how the international firms in Dublin interact with their Caribbean headquarters ( appreciating eversheds is UK headquartered AFAIK)
